Hiking on the Southern Upland Way

We’ve had such a glorious summer, and now September has seen some desperately needed rain. The footpaths near home are still dry enough though, so the first break in weather this week tempts me into the hills behind the studio for a hike and photography stint.

Each time we walk the Southern Upland way “loop” behind our house near Galashiels, I find new scenes to inspire me.

And today is no different with the misty cloud covered blanket dissipating as the morning turns into early afternoon.

We walked for two and half hours today…which probably would have only taken 1 hr 45 minutes if I didn’t stop so often to take photos.

I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the word and to have such a patient husband (well, at least he is patient when I am stopping to photograph nature for my artwork!)

15 minutes from home is my favourite spot which I call “Four Fences”.

I am very proud of the felt piece that I created from this photograph:
