Andy Goldsworthy

A VISIT TO THE NATIONAL GALLERIES OF SCOTLAND

This morning, I met a good friend at the National Galleries of Scotland to see the Andy Goldsworthy exhibition in Edinburgh.

I had heard that this exhibition was worth a visit, and I was not disappointed!

It was very busy despite being a Thursday morning and in the middle of the two month show.  It was great that the audience was allowed to take photos, and I must admit how tempted I was to touch some of the pieces to see how they were applied to the wall.

(I didn’t touch, though, don’t worry !).

A fellow nature lover inspired by Southern Scottish woodlands, Andy Goldsworthy ‘s approach to making an impactful statement using only natural resources was so impressive to view in person.

If you combined these two images together it is reminiscent of the colour palette I used in “Sand Stones”

And I loved to see Andy using wool to drape over this log…

I would definitely recommend going to see the exhibition if you are going to be in Edinburgh before November 2nd when it closes. If you would like to learn more about what inspires my pieces head over to my process page.
