Heaven on Earth!
Huisnis Beach, Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides, Scotland
I am so delighted to be back here at Huisnis Beach, one of my favourite places in the entire world! Mother nature has really outdone herself here, with the expansive, pristine beaches, the citrus green, mossy rock pools and the concentric patterned stones.
It’s a challenging hike to my favourite spot away from the “crowds”, but completely worth the sore limbs I’ll have tomorrow. And the reward of a glass of Hebridean gin and Ginger ale this evening spurs me on.
I’ll spend hours photographing stone collections, rocky coastlines, wildlife, with flasks of tea and Boursin sandwiches to nourish me. So lucky and grateful to have this time in this natural and unspoiled scenery.
So many ideas for felted compositions and colourations when I get home! This landscape has inspired many of my felt paintings, including "The Road to Lewis, a piece that captures the wild beauty and changing light of the Hebridean coast.
